We use 3 kidney shaped tables for groups:
Mrs. Jones' table is red; Mrs. King's is green; and Mrs. Brooks' is blue.
Our name cards are the same color as our table so readers and nonreaders can see which table they need to go to first. Some children soon learn to read the names of the children in their group which leads to learning all their classmate's names.

All of the name cards stick to the chart with a putty type adhesive. We can quickly rearrange the groups by pulling a card off, reshaping the putty and sticking it in another group. We can also move the teacher names so each group can start at a different table the three times we meet in a week.
