staple a paper chain to a paper bell:
Each night before Christmas
Before you lay down your head
Take off one loop
Then hop into bed.
When Christmas will come
'Tis easy to tell
For that is the night
You come to the bell.
Christmas Day will soon be here,
And I can hardly wait.
I've made this little paper chain
to help me celebrate.
I'll cut one loop off each day;
Please help me to remember.
'Til I reach the golden loop on
that happy day--the 25th of December!
(Use shiney gold foil paper for the final loop.)
Each night before Christmas after goodnights have been said,
Tear off one loop then hop into bed.
When Christmas will come it's easy to tell,
For that is the night you reach the bell!
From December 1 till Christmas
Is the longest time of year.
Seems as though old Santa
Never will appear.
How many days till Christmas
Is mighty hard to count
so this little paper chain
Will tell you the exact amount.
Take off a link every day.
It isn't very hard.
Christmas Day will be here
When you reach the star.
Isn't it the strangest thing,
That Santa is so shy? (hide face with hands)
We can never, never catch him, (make fingers run)
No matter how we try.
It isn't any use to watch, (hold hand to eyes and look)
Because my parents said,
"Santa Claus will only come
When children are in bed!" (shake finger)
10 LITTLE ELVES
10 Little Elves
Jumping in the sleigh
One falls off and.... slides away
Santa calls the reindeer and the reindeer say
"No more jumping in Santa's sleigh
9 little elves jumping in the sleigh...
See the many presents by the Christmas tree,
(Point to eye; sweep hand in wide half-circle; form tree with hands.)
Some for you,
(Point to others.)
And some for me.
(Point to self.)
(Spread hands wide apart.)
(Hold hands high above head.)
Short ones, too.
(Hold hands close together.)
And here is a round one
(Make circle with arms.)
Wrapped in blue.
Isn't it fun to look and see (Point to eyes.)
All the presents by the Christmas tree?
(Sweep hand in wide half-circle; form tree with hands.)
Hanukkah begins at sunset Nov. 29 to Dec 7.
