Ridley Park Borough
Intention to Adopt an Earned Income Tax

Public Notice p. 46 Daily Times Monday, December 8, 2003

Notice is hereby given that pursuant to the authority of the local Tax Act (Act of December 31, 1965, P.L. 1257; 53 P.S. §6901, et seq.) Ridley Park Borough intends to consider for adoption an ordinance levying an earned income tax of one percent (1%).

In the judgement of the members of the Ridley Park Borough Council, such a tax is necessary to produce additional general revenue to fund the general operating expenses of Ridley Park Borough.

The amount of revenue estimated to be derived from the tax is $650,000 per year.

The earned income tax will impose a tax of one percent (1%) on salaries, wages, commissions, bonuses, incentive payments, fees, tips and other compensations earned by the residents of and those who work in Ridley Park Borough on or after February 1, 2004 and on the net profits earned on the operation of a buisiness, profession or other activity by those who conduct the business, profession or other activity in Ridley Park Borough on or after that date. The ordinance will require the filing of returns, providing the information by employers and those subject to the tax by the employers at the source. The ordinance will also provide for the administration and enforcement of the tax.

The ordinance will be considered for adoption at a public meeting of the Ridley Park Borough Council to be held on Monday, December 22, 2003 at 7:00 P.M. in the Meeting Room of the Ridley Park Fire Company, 104 E. Ward Street, Ridley Park, PA 19078.
